EGRET 1979
Egret 36" x 36"
My second mosaic commission was to make an image of a white egret, for someone who lived near an estuary where these elegant birds were frequent visitors.
This was my first “realistic” mosaic, and since it was an all-white bird, I used a range of white tiles but depended mostly on the flow of the shapes. The background blues and browns suggest water below but become an abstract concentric pattern above the bird. This again is a three-foot square panel, with a circle in a square frame.
